Reception - Moore Class

Welcome to Moore Class

Age: 4-5

Teaching Team: Mrs. Cornes Support Staff: Miss Waddock

Reception is the first year of primary school and is it extremely important for ensuring that children have a positive experience of school and are excited to learn. During the reception year, your child will learn about the routines and expectations of being in school as well as fundamental skills such as self-care, making and forming relationships and early reading.

Reception will be your child’s first experience of learning in a more formal academic setting and helps to bridge the gap between preschool and the more formal routine and teaching infrastructure delivered at Key Stage 1 (KS1).

In our setting, learning is delivered through a combination of play and games, in accordance with the seven areas of learning and development in EYFS, which are:

  • Personal, Social, and Emotional Development
  • Communication and Language Development:
  • Literacy
  • Mathematical Development
  • Physical Development
  • Expressive Arts and Design
  • Understand the World

We are very excited to work with your child this academic year. As a school, we believe the children’s first and most important teachers are their parents and carers at home. As a result, we will work closely with you to share your child’s individual milestones and next developmental steps. We look forward to developing a close partnership with you as we help your child to grow.  Our aim to create a year filled with happy memories as well as enriched learning so that all children love coming to school and feel confident entering Year 1.

If you have any questions, please speak to a member of the team who will be happy to help.
